Welcome to my genealogy page. The names I’m researching are Kettell/Kettle, Crawley, Cox, Pridgen, Elder, Meigs, Fry, and Hess. You will find descendant infomation on the Kettell/Kettle, and Crawley families. The Cox, Pridgen, Elder, Meigs, Orr, Fry, and Hess families are connected in one way or another with either the Kettell/Kettle or Crawley families. I have provided what information I have concerning those families and my connection--and am hoping someone will drop by with additional information.

Cox--My great grandmother's name was Maria Louisa Cox. She was born on December 20, 1842, in Richmond, Virginia. She married a man by the name of Wiley E. Pridgen on March 28, 1860. Maria and Wiley had at least three children--see "Pridgen" below for information on children of that marriage. Maria and Wiley were divorced in 1874--probably in Butler County, Kansas. My uncle told me that Maria was a distant cousin to Robert E. Lee (yeah, right) and that she grew up on a plantation in Virginia.

Pridgen--My great grandmother married a man by the name of Wiley E. Pridgen on March 28, 1860. They had at least three children I know of. They were: Walter L. Pridgen, F. M. Pridgen, and Charles D. Pridgen. Wiley served in Company K, 91st Illinois Infantry. Walter L. Pridgen was listed in the Lipscomb County, Texas 1900 census as age 39. I know that Charles D. Pridgen end up in Oakland California, and died there sometime in the 1950s. Wiley E. Pridgen was born in France.

Elder--My great grandfather, David C. Kettell was married to Euphemia Elder in the Fall of 1860. They had the following children: Euphemia May Kettell (born in 1863, in Hickman, Kentucky), Harriett Francis Kettell (born in 1867 in Rock County, Wisconsin), Edmond George Kettell (born in 1869). David C. and Euphemia were divorced in 1874, probably in Butler County, Kansas. Euphemia Elder was born between 1835 and 1840 in Scotland.

Meigs--One of the children of the union between David C. Kettell and Euphemia Elder was Euphemia May Kettell (born on May 11, 1863, in Hickman, Kentucky). From my great grandfather's Civil War pension record, I find Euphemia listed with the married name of Meigs.

Fry--My grandfather, John Thomas Crawley had two brothers and a sister. One of the brothers was James Franklin Crawley. The three brothers moved to Oklahoma and took part in the 1889 land rush. James Franklin settled in Canadian County and married a woman by the name of Carrie Easley. They had three children: Olive, John Harold, and Robert Lester. Olive married a man by the name of Elbert Fry on December 24, 1913. Olive and Elbert were listed in the 1920 Oklahoma, Canadian County, Mathewson Township census and had two children. The children were Doris (age 5) and Bonnie (age 2).

Hess--My grandfather, John Thomas Crawley had two brothers and a sister. One of the brothers was James Franklin Crawley. The three brothers moved to Oklahoma and took part in the 1889 land rush. James Franklin settled in Canadian County and married a woman by the name of Carrie Easley. They had three children: Olive, John Harold, and Robert Lester. Robert Lester married a woman by the name of Gladys Hess on April 9, 1919. They were listed in the 1920 Oklahoma, Oklahoma County, census as living with Robert's mother, Carrie Crawley.
