"Roaring Ocean"

Here is my contribution to this challenge.
We live near the Schoodic Peninsula in Downeast Maine in the summer months. The rock formations there are rosy in color. The water moves around and over them creating an amazing abundance of color.
My painting is 11 x 15 using Yarka watercolors and a #12 round brush. "Kleenex" make the clouds while the painting is wet and I add a few dry brush details in the rocks when the painting is completely dry.

Charlie Morison

"Untitled"

I tried two paintings for this challenge and rejected the first one and cropped the second one submitted. I usually paint subjects from pictures I have taken but didn't have one for this challenge. I suppose I could have painted a running tap in the kitchen sink but a painting buddy found a couple of photos of water falls.

Deborah Holmes

"Down Stream"

Painted on Yupo with Dr. Martin's Hydrus watercolors. I used surgical gauze for the tree texture, salt in the sky, plastic wrap for the stream texture and wax paper pieces for the shoreline. Yupo is always fun since you never really know how it will react always a "surprise" moment.

"Untitled"

I wanted to try something different so went into the guest bathroom and sketched the shower then put some water into the painting. Hope this qualifies for the challenge. I used Arches 140 pound cold press paper and Daniel Smith paints.

"Buckingham Fountain"

Happy Summer 2011.  “Buckingham Fountain”, attached, is an enormous public fountain situated on the shores of Lake Michigan in Chicago’s famous Grant Park.  The view is actually looking from the south of the Fountain.  Past the fountain you will see the trees of Grant Park framed by the North skyline of Chicago.  Here you find the venerable Prudential building (mid left with large TV tower), then Prudential II built in the mid 1980’s.  The building that towers off the page is the “Amoco Building”.  I worked in the old Prudential building and then my company moved into the brand new building.  That is 25 years ago but I spent many a lunch in Grant Park.  The painting is 16X20 on Arches 140 lb paper with Daniel Smith paints.  The blue is Lapis Lazuli.  The sky kind of washed out in the camera shot.  Thanks as always for your work on this.  A tremendous theme!

Hello to all the other artist—nice work folks.

"Giant Wave"

This is painted on Arches 140# rough paper with Graham watercolor paints.
I wanted to capture the forcefulness of the waves against the rocks.  Water can be so peasful to look at and yet so violent.
Thank you Maury for another interesting project.  Look forward to your next project.

"Fall Runoff"

I have attached my submittal for this quarter; Titled "Fall Runoff" on Arches CP #140 15"X21" painted with W/N watercolors.
This was painted from an old photo taken in Mesa, AZ at Leisure World. Actually I did two, One is the actual photo with rock
on the right and one without the rock and the leaves rearranged. I like the rock, my wife doesn't. As usual it was fun.
