"Morning Coffee"

This is my painting, entitled "Morning Coffee". It was painted on Arches 140 lb paper. Of course, I needed two cups before I did the painting. Thanks again.

"Edible Art"

I was returning home after a plein air painting session on the river last week. I noticed a farmer's market in town and stopped to see what colorful vegetables I might find. I thought red lettuce, multicolored raddishes, beets, and onions might make a good subject. The "proof was in the eating". The vegetables were enjoyed at dinner that night. Size 10.5 x 14.5 inches.

"Time to Bake a Cake"

I tried chairs, counters and things, but my perspective was really bad, so I hope this suggests a kitchen.
Richeson 140 cold pressed paper and Winsor Newton watercolours.
Have a good day.

"Blue Collar"

I tried to get the coffeepot reflecting the inside lighting sitting next to the pre-dawn morning. A lot of people see this coffeepot every morning of their adult lives.

"Prairie Kitchen"

Kitchens! Wow, I love kitchens! I started sketching and did several. Then I remembered the old chuck wagon sitting in the barn on the ranch where I was raised in Colorado. It was after all a Kitchen. So, I stepped outside the box. Hope it's enjoyed. Montval 140#. #12 brush, Pentel paints.

"Breakfast"

This was a really fun project. There is so much more in a kitchen besides a stove and refrigerator -- appliances galore that come in all sizes and shapes. So I chose a toaster doing it's job early in the morning. A good way to start off the day. This painting is a 1/2 sheet of Arches rough watercolor paper (15 by 22 inches) that is painted with Winsor-Newton transparent paints. Thanks Maury for this interesting project. Looking forward to your next challenge.

"Untitled"

The pan and dish towel in this picture are items that remain at the old family farm from when my husband's mother and grandmother were alive, so this picture makes holds good memories for us. The part of the wallpaper with sunlight on it from the window did not scan right, but, "Oh, well." This is painted on Arches 12 x 16 cold pressed with W&N paints.

"Sit Down and Rest"

Painting subjects can come to an artist in many ways. This one dropped into my lap when I gave my 7-year old granddaughter my digital camera and asked her to go take photos of things around the house. I told her I wanted to know the strangest things she could find for a photo. The minute I saw this photo , I knew there was a painting there. Anyhow, it took me some time to finish the painting--I took special pains to get the reflections from the room in the background right. The size is 11" x 15", Arches 140 lb cold press, Daniel Smith, Winsor Newton, and DaVinci paints.

"Sun Tea"

Please find the Jul - Sept 2007 project submittal attached. This painting shows my kitchen sink, however, the window doesn't look directly outdoors. A little artistic license required, so the sun could flow in. As always, other paintings develop during these projects, see "Vitamins and Tea" on my website. This painting was done on W/N CP140# paper (15"X 22") with mainly W/N watercolors and gouache. Looking forward to the next project.

"Apples on a Glass Table"

I decided to keep this one simple, since life is complicated enough. I get together with a couple of friends to paint and this was done at my friend's house. It is ironic that she doesn't even have a kitchen. It's an empty room with bare walls, waiting for new cabinets. I hadn't painted apples in awhile. It was fun to try and capture the varied colors and glossiness. 7"x10" Arches CP 140#

"Happy Sunny Days"

This is my submission; it is actually the preliminary version, done on 90 lb. practice paper. It is an homage to our two beloved kitties, Figaro and JB, who passed away this summer within weeks of each other. My attempts at a final version were not to my liking, somehow. If nothing else, it's "fresh" by virtue of the sentiment when it was done. Paper was 11x15 Pearl 90 lb., Winsor & Newton paints, and a bit of ink.

"Breakfast Buddy"

I call this painting, Breakfast Buddy. My first idea was to paint a picture of my behind in my bathrobe diving into my refridgerator. But while I was setting things up to photograph, I turned around to take a drink of my coffee and the green gecko that lives in my kitchen was drinking it himself. The cup was in front of a pinneapple and I thought what a great picture. Unfortunately the gecko wouldn't pose so I had to do an artistic impression of him.
