"Ohio Barn"
Attached is my painting "Ohio Barn" for your display. Even though We now live in Texas, I remember the old barns in Ohio. This one is watercolor on Arches 120#,16" X 21". Sent to you 11 X 7+. You can list my E-mail address. You may remember I paint under the name Adam Gauche. If you look up gauche in the dictionary you'll understand the joke.

"Goin Shoppin"
Here on the island summer is return of the tourist trade. I paint with mostly DaVinci Watercolors and Waterford paper. This painting is 10"x16". It's a grand place to be in the summer. I thought the back of the buildings that lined Front Street were as interesting as the fronts.

"Crotaphytus Collaris, a Portrait"
Every summer I spend a good deal of time fly fishing various rivers and streams in western Colorado. One particular river hosts a plethora of Collared Lizards as well as hungry trout. Every year I take photos of the lizards I run across as I'm hiking up and down the river, and this last summer I happened upon this particular lizard whose head was more colored than usual. It seemed a good subject for a painting. As far as the painting is concerned, I took a great of time drawing the lizard, and then masked the entire lizard off. I painted the rock and background, removed the mask and then painted the lizard. The size 32" x 45"-- Winsor Newton and Daniel Smith paints.

"Wind Charmer, To the Bridge and Back"
One of my fondest memories of summer is sailing on my Dad's 32' ketch that he built in our yard. We sailed on the Great South Bay and we would ask Dad "Where are we sailing today?" He would always reply "To the bridge and back." It became our family motto and we would answer when asked where we were going "To the bridge and back". I used AJ watercolor and Arches 140 CP

"Summer Squash"
I've attached an image of my painting Summer Squash. Seeing the comical shapes of the patty pan squash sprawling on the garden vines and smelling the summer squash and onions frying up in the kitchen is my true sign of summer. The painting is 10" x 10" on Arches 300lb rough paper.

"Untitled"
Summer has hit the Heartlands and in the midst of experiencing the sweltering heat I was inspired when I went down to my barn. It is mid-day, heat index around 110 degrees. The fans are humming away and the horses had their noses pointing toward them, manes and forelocks being blown back...then I spied Blazes, chin resting on the edge, eyes closed half asleep. I found my painting! 9 x 11 watercolor, on Strathmore cold press, with just a touch of gouche on the fan.

"Summer"
I recently found your site and think it is wonderful. I am contributing to the "Summer" project. I still love to hand laundry out in the Summer and also love a good old rain storm in the Summer.

"Camping in Northern Onatrio"
This painting started out as practice piece just using my imagination. I decided it would look more like "summer" if I added a camper and a boat. I think the boat is too small, and my husband thinks I should have left the tent and the boat out altogether......maybe he's right! Anyway your project got me painting and I need a shot in the arm now and again.....so thanks again.

"Summer Solitude"
A small painting 5.5 x 7.5 entitled Summer Solitude. My inspiration came from a recent trip to Vermont where I stayed at a little cabin on a pond. I wish I would have had a small sailboat to just drift in, but not having that I created this one out of my imagination.

"Come On In, The Water's Great"
This summer, one of our best times was taking the grandchildren to the lake on Fridays. We are fortunate that the lake is so close. On this day the sun was very bright and later in the afternoon it cast long shadows. This is a painting of my grandson, Ryan. It is painted on ¼ sheet of 140 lb. cold press paper with mostly Holbein watercolors.

"Summer on the Farm"
As I had just about finished this painting I figured that any respectful farm would have power to it. So I added the power poles and then realized they shouldn't be so close to the road. Why do I think of these things after they are painted? It is painted on Arches 10" x 14" block.

"Beach Huts at Hengistbury Head"
This is my contribution. Winsor & Newton paints 15"x13". It is one I have painted before but a friend asked me to paint it again so I thought I would use it for the project. I think it represents the summer here on the south coast of England. Although the weather has been dreadful all summer here maybe I should have painted a rainy day!

"Sunny Morning"
Thank you for the opportunity to participate in your project. Size: 15" x 22". I have made this painting on a half sheet of handmade paper. My aim during this painting was to capture the starkness of the summer sunlight. I think I could have handled the boat and its cabin in a better manner. All comments and criticisms are most welcome.

"Untitled"
The paper used was a gift sent to me from my sister as a treat. It is Arches 140 pound watercolor paper. I used Winsor & Newton artist grade paints recently purchased. Finding what I want here in Lebanon is not easy and teaching myself to paint with books purchased locally in my native English or sometimes French is not easy, either.
The painting was done from a photo taken of our own produce. We have perhaps 100 fig trees now on our land in northern Lebanon. Figs, to me, symbolize summer. They are succulent, tasty and wonderful freshly picked and eaten for breakfast. They are good dried, as jam or cut open, dolloped with a bit of labne, drizzled with honey and sprinkled with a bit of cinnamon. Figs are golden...in more ways than one.
The figs in the photo are really that big...cutlery is there to show how large the figs are. I have been trying to get the shadows right on the figs but so far have not achieved this. I am hoping to get another painting done before the challenge ends but in case I do not...wanted to send something in since it was a promise to myself to do so.
I started painting with an old children's paintbox in the middle of March and perhaps in April bought some better quality paints. In the last few weeks I bought better paper and paint. I am learning and love watercolor.
Wanted to paint what I saw one morning while watering...it was a sandpile (construction sand pile) from which I noticed baby lizards emerging. They were hesitant and moving around together and apart. One was the leader and the scout and there was a straggler. At one point four of the lizards piled up on one another for some reason or another. Did not have a camera but your lizard made me think of what I saw and wished I had captured in a photo to paint later.
If people would like to contact me they can.

"Summer Days"
Summer days spent at the swimming hole in the canal, just past where the bridge crossed over the canal. We all carried salt shakers in our pockets, because when the cabbage trucks crossed the bumpy bridge, a cabbage or two would fall off and we'd munch on the raw heads. Of course, we girls were far too sophisticated to be swinging on that old tire, but we never tired of watching those cute boys swinging on it! Arches 140 lb, Holbein paints.

"First Pansy"
My mother-in-law, Carol Prentiss, has encouraged me to submit my very first watercolor ever, so here it is. Since it is a Pansy I thought it would be good for your Summer Project. I am very excited to paint more. This painted on Arches 140 lb cold pressed paper with Holbein paints.

"Les Coquelicots"
My project for SUMMER -red poppies everywhere over here in France! This painting is small - 5" by 7" - Arches 140 lb paper and Winsor Newton paints.

"Heceta Lighthouse"
Here is the Heceta Light House in Oregon.
This is from a photo friends, who spent their 25th anniversary there gave
me to do for them. I thought it'd be good for this Summer project. I can just
hear the waves crashing up on the rocky shore and wish I was there now. I
did this on 10 x 14 Arches 140 cold press paper using mostly Windsor Newton
paints. I have enjoyed painting lighthouses (pictures, not the lighthouse
itself!).
Dorothy Wagner
"Summer Picnic"
This painting is painted on gessoed Arches watercolor paper. I used both transparent
watercolors and gouache. The size is 7 by 9 inches. With the bright warm colors
I tried to capture the heat of the summer and the delight of a juicy watermelon.

"Girl's Just Want To Have Fun!"
This is my submission for the Summer Project. When I was at the beach recently, these two girls were building sandcastles, catching crabs, playing in the surf and just enjoying the splendors of a summer day at the ocean. Watching them, again reminded me, that Life is wonderful. This 12" X 16" painting was done on Arches 140 lb. cold press paper with Winston-Newton paints. Thanks again for providing this project.

"Untitled"
I've attached my summer submission. It was painted on 140 lb Waterford CP paper. This summer my daughter-in-law and my son had loads of fun in their new Carolina Classic 28. I painted this using the profiles of the boat obtained from the Carolina Classic commercial site. The sea is a little rougher than Beth likes but my son and grandsons don't mind, as long as the fish are striking.

"Summer Splash"
Such a nice topic and so many options that
I almost left it too late while deciding what to attempt. Here is my try -
a few vases with pea flowers - took about 1 hour to do and I really liked
the way it came to gether while I was trying to keep it loose. I used arches
water colour paper I think and windsor and newton as well as art spectrum
paints. The greenery is a bit thick but I was trying a new technique I learned
of blowing the paint to make lovely foliage, Think I need a bit more practice
though. I call it Summer Splash.
Sorry about the quality but am camera less at the moment and had to take with
computer.

"Stormy Afternoon On Topsail Island"
My husband and I had not been to the beach in years. This year we took a relaxing 2 week vacation to Topsail Island, North Carolina. I painted this during the big storm September 25th while looking out the window of the cottage. 7"x10" Kilimanjaro 140CP.

"Foggy Bay"
This is Foggy Bay...my attempt at taking a chance and working quickly...and I guess I kind of like the result, though I feel I'm taking a bigger chance in sending it in. Done on a half sheet of Arches 140 lb. cold press paper and Windsor & Newton paints.

"Summer Barn"
I have been trying to send an email with my painting to you for a week and the postmaster kept returning it saying you were not available. I figured You changed your email and if you receive this I will know you did. Anyway here goes painting is 8x12 300# paper and as always was great fun to paint. I did a lot of color mixing on the paper and I do like the results I got here from doing that.
